Preliminary Documentary - T4LK 2 M3

For this preliminary, we had to film a documentary based on mobile phones and ask a series of questions to an interviewee. Before filming, we examined other documentaries and how they were structured with codes and conventions. We made sure that the rule of thirds came into play and that the camera was fixed in the correct place when interviewing the interviewee. We placed the person who was asking the questions slightly away from the camera so the interviewee wasn't looking straight into the camera. The music that compliments the documentary was made sure to relate to the subject matter of mobile phones and played so that the answers could be heard. Cutaways of mobile phones were included in the clip also. A problem that we encountered when doing this preliminary was when the still pictures were took with a different camera and when we tried to upload them, it wouldn't view as separate and different phones but just one phone instead. The starting titles are duranced too long and seem too long winded because of this. As well as this, there was a problem with the blue-screen. There is a small glow around the interviewee due to his t-shirt having small blue hexagons. When we tried to get rid of the glow, it looked like the interviewee had holes in his body. One thing that went well was the framing and the interviewee answering the questions correctly starting with the question being included in the answer. If I was to do this again, I would make sure the interviewee wasn't wearing the same colour as the blue-screen and adjust the durance of some footage to make a more engaging documentary.
